I'm so glad that Google led you here.

As far as leaving out the zipper, it was an easy decision to make simply because the dress is so easy to pull over my head. The pattern has just the right amount of ease in it to make this possible. On Pattern Review, there is actually another girl who opted to do the same thing and also found it easy to pull-over. That being said, however, since I chose pique there is a bit of stretch in my fabric already, which might make it easier to do as well. If you are worried about the zipper, leaving it out is a great idea...or, conversely, moving it to the center back. I really don't think it's a great pattern for the suggested side lapped zipper.

Those are really all the alterations I made! This was such a wonderful pattern, even without tons of fitting alterations, which is both rare and awesome. Good luck on your own version! Do you plan on posting pictures, once you've sewn it up? I would LOVE to see another 2209 version.Mary Danielsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13375674341038153250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4337174006238935251.post-35162135448931443472011-03-17T18:57:07.386-05:002011-03-17T18:57:07.386-05:00Hi Carolyn! I notice you left out the zipper... is it easy enough to still pull it over your head/bust without having a zipper? Did you have to make any additional alterations? Your dress is amazingly cute! I can't wait to make mine (tonight I think!). Sewing a pattern that no one else has posted about is a bit nerve-wracking, not going to lie, so I'm just happy it didn't turn out to be a mess!

And - ha! - you so wouldn't say that, if you could see my stitching lines. I got it a few months back, and I loved it! You might be able to find a book that is equally helpful, but that's really the only resource I've looked for on that topic.
